Dermaplaning is a form of exfoliation and hair removal. An experienced aesthetician uses a blade to gently scrape away the outer layer of dead skin cells. We start the treatment by cleansing your face to wash away bacteria. Next, an experienced aesthetician holds your skin taut and uses a surgical scalpel to gently scrape off dead skin and peach fuzz hair. We hold the scalpel at a specific angle with just enough pressure to remove the outermost layer of skin without hurting the skin underneath. 


We apply this process to your cheeks, chin, and forehead, working in small sections at a time and skipping your eyebrows, nose, and lips. Following treatment, we apply a moisturizer to soothe your skin. Dermaplane treatments are gentle and don’t require downtime following your appointment.

How to Prepare

To prepare for your beauty appointment, refrain from using exfoliating products and avoid excess sun exposure. Do not shave or wax your face before your appointment. Our facial services are intended for healed skin, so if you have wounds or active acne lesions on your face, you’ll need to wait until those heal before receiving dermaplane. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about skin conditions, how to help your face heal, or would like more information on how to prepare for your appointment. 


Post-Treatment Tips

Following your treatment, your skin may be red and sensitive for a few days. To soothe and protect it, avoid exposure to direct sunlight and excessive heat for a few days. It’s also best to avoid using exfoliators and scrubs for a week, as well as products with harsh ingredients, such as benzoyl peroxide. Wait a day or so before applying makeup, and avoid chlorine for about a week. Use gentle moisturizers and sunscreen to help keep your skin looking and feeling great. We may provide additional post-treatment skincare tips during your appointment.

Get Gorgeous Results

You’ll see noticeable improvements in your skin immediately following your appointment, and will see even greater results about a day after your appointment. The removal of dry, dead skin cells reveals the healthier, smoother skin underneath, giving you a radiant glow and more youthful appearance. This smoother surface better absorbs skincare products and makes it easier to apply cosmetics. 


Dermaplaning also reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scarring. If your acne scars are especially deep or raised and reducing their appearance is your main goal, you may benefit from more intense treatments, such as laser treatments. 


While fine hair is removed, it is a temporary hair removal solution. Peach fuzz will typically grow back in a few weeks, but it will not grow back darker or thicker.
